The songs of Willie Dixon are magic. I first heard these songs as a kid when they were reinvented by the
British Invasion musicians. Bands like the Jeff Beck Group, the Rolling Stones, and early Led Zeppelin
got tons of airplay with Willie’s solidly written blues tunes. Some even tried to take undue credit for
writing these songs. But some quick musical investigation revealed that the original songs were written
by Chess Records house bass player, the American king of blues writers, Willie Dixon. Mr. Dixon wrote
for my idols, Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf, as well as so many others. This CD is the Thin Blues Line
that runs from Willie Dixon to me. This is my tribute, with love and the utmost respect, to Willie Dixon,
with a tip of the hat to the artists who first brought his songs to me. Johnny Barnes
